Frontstage Magazine: Your album, “All My Love,” is finally out now. How does it feel to share this collection of songs with the world?
Vella: It feels like breathing fresh air and finally having a weight off my shoulders!! Being able to truly put out your heart and soul into a project was truly amazing. I’m so grateful. It definitely is scary to put out an authentic project of yourself. I talk about things I haven’t talked about in my music and it’s nerve wracking but it’s definitely worth it to let all your feelings out because I know someone will relate and feel what I’m feeling.
Frontstage Magazine: The ten tracks are compact and intense – only 32 minutes, yet full of emotion. Was it important to you to create an album that gets straight to the point?
Vella: Yes because my voice is straight to the point! HAHAHA. But obviously I love a lil suspense!! I feel like this album was truly a roller coaster of emotions. You have loops you have breaks, you have quickness and slowness. But the main instrument is my voice. And when I write music and figuring out what I want the track to feel like, the main part is my voice and to showcase my vocal as much as possible. And it’s always going to stay like that forever.
Frontstage Magazine: On “All My Love,” you address many personal yet universal themes. What message do you most want listeners to take away from the record?
Vella: To be unapologetically you and to feel everything. The reason why it took me so long to write all the things on this album is because I’m known for bottling up my emotions. And when that happens everything starts to spiral mentally for me. I want my listeners to feel empowered and emotional listening to my music. I want to make sure that they are not alone in feeling certain types of ways, To not have to be perfect all the time and it’s ok to mess up sometimes because at the end of the day we learn from the mistakes and the heartaches we have and helps us grow. Lord knows it has helped me grow as a person.
Frontstage Magazine: Your powerful voice really carries the album with striking intensity. How did you approach the recording process to capture that unique energy?
Vella: One thing that helped me was to not care what other people have to say when it comes to writing my music especially vocally unless it’s good advice and good criticism. I’ve done multiple session where people would tell me to dial it down and that’s something I’m not going to have. I’m not going to water myself down for anyone. So when I was creating this album, I just did what felt good to me, to also challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone to grow as a writer and as a vocalist. I’m happy that I now have a team that lets me do that freely. I do whatever feels best for me because I love what I do, it makes me extremely happy.
Frontstage Magazine: “All My Love” shows you as a songwriter and artist in a very authentic light. What do you feel sets this album apart the most from your earlier career, when you were mainly posting covers?
Vella: I feel like I truly showed a piece of my heart with this album. I had the free space to explore a part of me that I was scared to do years ago. And I’m happy that I’m finally breaking out of my shell as a writer. I’m proud that I can call this project mine. And I’m excited to explore more of my artistry within myself.
