Frontstage Magazine: Your new EP „None Of Us Are Getting Out“ has just been released. What’s the meaning behind the title, and what message do you want to convey with it?
Zero 9:36: The title of this EP was found on a wall after playing a show in 2021. My friend and i were talking about how it sounded so dark, but felt like it was meant to say enjoy things while you have them & don’t take anything for granted. It felt perfect for the music we were creating.
Frontstage Magazine: You’ve collaborated with some exciting artists like Cody Quistad and Landon Tewers on this EP. How did these collaborations influence the project?
Zero 9:36: I specifically sought out the two of these guys, because i think they are some of the absolute best producers & writers in music right now. I felt blending my style with their production would create an extremely strong backbone for the project & give me two completely different vibes. My producer No Love & I already had the majority of the project completely finished, so we wanted two fresh takes on rounding out the tracklist.
Frontstage Magazine: „Chasing Shadows“ is the focus track of the EP. Can you tell us about the creation of this song and what it means to you?
Zero 9:36: My producer No Love and I are always messing with different open tunings, especially on acoustic guitars. When we were in the studio with Erik Ron, we decided to do our interpretation of an early 2000’s acoustic guitar riff. As soon as No Love played the intro riff, I wrote the lyrics pretty much immediately. Erik and No
Love started producing the rest of the song while I wrote the melodies and we pretty much had the entire song written in about 3 hours. This song was made in 2021 following the release of our song Adrenaline. With the success of that song, I felt pressure to release something better. If it didn’t happen I would be disappointed in myself. The idea of the song is telling myself not to chase what’s behind me and just´move forward. Not everything is in your control.
Frontstage Magazine: This is your first release as an independent artist with OneRPM. How has this new chapter of your career changed things for you?
Zero 9:36:I have luckily always had full creative control over my music, so nothing has changed there. This has given me the opportunity to release more music as often as I want to. That’s honestly the biggest thing for me.
Frontstage Magazine: You’re kicking off your European headlining tour in 2025. How are you preparing for the tour, and what can fans expect from your live performances?
Zero 9:36: High energy, songs i dont get to play when im opening for other bands, and a longer
set time!!
Frontstage Magazine: For the first time, you’re offering vinyl in a limited edition. How important was it for you to provide this format to your fans, and what does vinyl mean to you personally?
Zero 9:36:I have been constantly asked to put the two previous bodies of work onto vinyl, but i had no control over that. As a vinyl collector myself, this is super important to give people a physical piece of music that is actually able to be displayed or played in the house.
Frontstage Magazine: Our final question is always a bit out of the ordinary: If you could collaborate on a song with any Disney character, who would it be and why?
Zero 9:36:I would have to go with Mufasa. He can do a bunch of low screams for me.
Wir vom Frontstage Magazine präsentieren euch die Tour in Deutschland in Zusammenarbeit mit FKP Scorpio.
