Die Heavy-Metal-Visionäre von AVATAR – Sänger Johannes Eckerström, die Gitarristen Jonas Jarlsby und Tim Öhrström, Bassist Henrik Sandelin sowie Schlagzeuger John Alfredsson – veröffentlichten im vergangenen Jahr an Halloween ihr aktuelles Meisterwerk Don’t Go in the Forest. Passender hätte das Veröffentlichungsdatum kaum sein können.
Den neuen Albumzyklus eröffnete die Band mit einer umfangreichen Nordamerika-Headlinetour, die unter anderem ihre bislang größte Headline-Show in Mexiko Stadt beinhaltete. Anschließend führte die gefeierte Tour durch Europa und erneut durch Nordamerika, mit US-Festivals wie Welcome to Rockville und Sonic Temple und erhielt viel Lob von Medien wie Ultimate Guitar und Rock Feed. Aktuell sind Avatar wieder in Europa unterwegs und begeistern dort auch die Fans von Metallica: Sie eröffnen als Special Guest vier Europa-Shows der Metal-Legenden.
„Crying Fire“ ist dabei keineswegs eine übrig gebliebene B-Seite oder ein Lückenfüller. Der Song ist ein vollständiger Avatar-Track, den die Band ganz bewusst zurückgehalten hat, um ihn zum richtigen Zeitpunkt zu veröffentlichen. Zur Freude der Fans ist dieser Moment nun gekommen.
„Crying Fire‚ is very special to all of us. It was written and recorded as part of the Don’t Go In The Forest sessions. When making the final selection for album tracks, this one was a given. But then we started asking ourselves something: What if we saved the best for later? What if we kept this gem away from the world for a while?,“ erzählt Eckerström.
„It certainly stands tall on its own. I hear a relentless firestorm of emotions. It hits me in a deeply hidden place, and I hope it does the same for you. I could say a lot about what the song is about, but I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better to get out of the way and simply let it be heard for what it is. The best I can say today is that it’s about enduring pain and loving passionately.“
Dieser Song ist durch und durch Avatar – genauso wie die kürzlich angekündigten Europa- und UK-Tourtermine für 2026. Diese folgen auf die Rückkehr der Band nach Australien und Neuseeland und setzen ihren weltweiten Tourzyklus fort.
