Frontstage Magazine: Hello guys we hope you are well and you have survived the extended European tour with Eskimo Callboy well?
Aleksi: Hi! Yes the tour was amazing. We survived it perfectly!
Frontstage Magazine: We think that this was the biggest tour for you so far. Moreover, your tour with Eskimo Callboy was one of the biggest with the most dates after Corona. How did it feel to play this tour?
Aleksi: Yes absolutely! It felt amazing! We are so thankful we got to tour with such an amazing band like Electric Callboy, and also play such a big venues. Especially after the pandemic, it felt so great to be able to tour again and we couldn’t have wished for a better tour.
Frontstage Magazine: First the Eurovision Song Contest, then a great European tour and now your new album is coming soon. How did the ESC and the pandemic influence you during the development of the album?
Aleksi: ESC didn’t really influence the album making to be honest. We started to write the album before ESC, during late 2020 and finished it in October 2021. The only thing we had to take into consideration was the actual time we had to finish the album after ESC. Luckily we managed to find available dates from our schedules during the summer 2021 to finish the writing and also to record the album, even though we were touring the whole time. And we’re extremely happy about the result!
Frontstage Magazine: Would the album have been different if there had been no ESC or the Corona Pandemic?
Aleksi: I don’t think so. Maybe in some way the frustration we had because of the pandemic can be heard in some lyrics, but other than that i don’t think the pandemic really affected the actual material in the album.
Frontstage Magazine: Your fourth album contains eleven songs. How does it differ from its three predecessors?
Aleksi: This album is the first one we produced by ourselves. Finishing the album took a lot of time since the whole band being the producers ourselves, every member wanted every single detail to be perfect. This album is also the first album we’ve done with the current line up after i (Aleksi) joined the band. We think this album is a perfect package of 11 songs which are truly the Blind Channel sound. Energetic, heavy but still melodic and catchy hooks with rap.
Frontstage Magazine: Which song is the most important for you on the record?
Aleksi: Personally i like „Thank You For The Pain“ the most. It just feels like an anthem that i’m really looking forward to play on tour. In terms of our career, i think Dark Side is the most significant one, since it kinda changed our lives and career by streaming so well. Also the opening track „Opinions“ feels very special. We wrote the whole song in one day which actually was the last day before our writing deadline. The theme of the song, the electronic beginning and the overall mood was perfect to open the album with.
Frontstage Magazine: Your solo European tour starts at the end of August. What do you personally expect from the tour?
Aleksi: It is going to be amazing! It’s the first time we get to play a full set for our European fans which includes more songs from this album. We couldn’t be happier to see our fans all over Europe again! It’s also amazing to see that so many people have been buying tickets to the shows and sending a lot of messages to us telling that they can’t wait to see us live in their city. We can promise this tour is going to be amazing and very special for us and the fans.
Frontstage Magazine: Our last question is always a bit out of line: What is your favorite dish you like most but would not recommend to a friend?
Aleksi: Maybe pizza. It’s so good but.. also not very healthy..haha
