Frontstage Magazine: What can fans expect musically from the new EP? Are there any new influences or surprises you’ve woven into these songs?
Adrian Estrella: I think that fans can expect a fresh sound with modern metal mix with old-school punk rock vibes and vocally a mix between falsettos screams clean vocals and raspy vocals along with probably the best drumming we’ve ever had which is exciting for us. We worked really hard on these songs .
Frontstage Magazine: How does this EP differ from your previous releases, especially II and III? What did you do differently this time around?
Adrian Estrella: I think it’s a combination of both the first two eps ,we brought everyone’s influences really into the picture , this time around we really spent over a year writing it, the first ep kind of happen organically as I join the band we wrote the first day we ever met up with each other and so it was really like let’s write let’s go we need to release music and we’re very proud of what we released and same thing for the second EP we knew we had to follow up within a timeframe but I think that this one we really spent the time and we would get together 3 to 4 days a week and write and revamp the songs over and over and over until we were all satisfied and even then, when we first started recording, we would sit back get together and say, how can we make this even better, so we put in a lot a lot of work on this latest EP and we’re super proud of the work we put in!
Frontstage Magazine: Is there a specific theme or story that ties the new EP together? If so, how does it come through in the individual tracks?
Adrian Estrella:I think that with three and two and one there’s definitely a theme and it has to do with everything that has been happening the past few years. Covid ,wars, losing friends and family members to illness and the fight to not give up ,the fight to want to succeed, and be happy against all odds And I think that it shows with the culmination of one it’s really an ode to those fans and friends that stuck by us this entire time through many different changes through many different years letting them know that we hear them and we’re all in this together!
Frontstage Magazine: Can you tell us a bit about the creation process for these songs? Were there any memorable moments in the studio or influences that shaped your work on this EP?
Adrian Estrella: This one was definitely super fun to record first off we were really prepared and we had all these wild little ideas that we had to wait till we recorded to implement. Of course there was a lot of sleeping in the studio a lot of eating sandwiches from our favorite little deli but a lot of amazing little moments that we experienced while recording and going through different guitar tones and using different types of guitars that normally we wouldn’t to create a little bit heavier tones for the darker songs. One of the songs doomsday on the radio is a riff that I came up with a long time ago just by humming and I would practice it at Soundcheck while we were on tour and little by little we would start writing the entire song and just the way that came about is really really cool and so a lot of memorable moments and recording process I think for a lot of us started while we’re on tour we would come up with ideas like dan we have a guitar riff during soundcheck and we’d be like what is that that is awesome and so we recorded into our phones and when we came home from tour and start working on them. We then would all get together and work as a team on the vocals which I feel we are very lucky to do together with no egos and understanding we all want what’s best for the songs, and we’re just really really proud of what we’ve done and we really hope that everybody enjoys it as much as we do!
Frontstage Magazine: Which song on the EP is especially meaningful to you, and why? Is there a track that resonates with you on a personal level or as a band?
Adrian Estrella: Sink like a stone really does for me , I think everyone has had that feeling of helplessness, and going through something where you feel alone with nowhere to turn to, but then you get reminded real quick, that you have amazing friends in your life that have your back through thick and thin through the ups and downs and so that song for me is this, it’s a really authentic song and heartfelt in many ways and it’s really about having the support you need when you’re going through some stuff!
Frontstage Magazine: What are your hopes for this release? Are there specific messages or emotions you want to convey to your fans with this new EP?
Adrian Estrella: I think all our hopes for the release of this EP is to reach out to new fans while also showing our current fans that we’re not going anywhere anytime soon and that we’re only getting stronger, that there’s always hope, and as far as conveying, I think that 321 is a good representation of all of us, individually, and collectively throughout the years of us playing music ,All the adventures We’ve had ,the ups and downs, the excitement for the future, the love of the past ! in the end, we’re really excited to see some new faces, see some familiar faces, and share the songs with everyone live, and create many more amazing memories!
