Die Heavy Metal-Visionäre AVATAR – bestehend aus Sänger Johannes Eckerström, die Gitarristen Jonas Jarlsby und Tim Öhrström, Bassist Henrik Sandelin und Schlagzeuger John Alfredsson – freuen sich, die Veröffentlichung ihres neuesten Meisterwerks „Don’t Go in the Forest“ für den 31. Oktober bekannt zu geben.
“It has become a necessity to me over the years to be able to answer one question: Why is this important? It can’t be just another album. We need to discover something, try something else. It has to come from the heart. What is being said matters,” sagt Sänger Eckerström bezüglich der Single-Veröffentlichung, ‘Tonight We Must Be Warriors’. „In days of isolation and despair, maybe we need to be reminded that we are not alone? We are one of many. Maybe we also need a reminder that the burden is on our shoulders? To get it done, we need to do the fighting ourselves.”

“The secret ingredient is that we still feel like we’re just getting started. ‘Don’t Go In The Forest’ is an album filled to the brim with stuff we’ve never done before. It’s all songs and concepts we haven’t been close to touch until now. The mind is wild and we have lost ourselves in the darkest woods, filled with memories, and fantasies. Forbidden thoughts that must be spoken”, kommentiert Eckerström mit Hinblick auf den bevorstehenden Release von Avatar’s Album ‘Don’t Go In The Forest’. “It would have been impossible to make this album at any other time than now. That’s all we ever wanted, and I think you’ll find it’s all you ever wanted too.”
Die Band kündigte bereits im April ihre Headline-Tour „A Night To Be Tour Apart“ an und hat diese nun in „In the Airwaves“ umbenannt. Gleichzeitig wurden die norwegische feministische Black-Metal-Gruppe Witch Club Satan sowie die norwegische Death-Jazz-Band Agabas als zusätzliche Support-Acts für ausgewählte Shows angekündigt.
Avatar haben sich in den letzten Jahren stetig verbessert: Da wäre das von Kritikern hochgelobte, 2023 veröffentlichte Album „Dance Devil Dance“, das den Rock-Radio-Chartstürmer „The Dirt I’m Buried In“ enthält. Zudem spielte die Band Dutzende ausverkaufte Headliner-Shows auf der ganzen Welt und es wurde sogar ein Fossil nach ihnen benannt. Die Liste lässt sich endlos fortsetzen.
Doch die Vergangenheit liegt hinter uns und die Zukunft sieht … nun ja, finster aus. Im besten Sinne, denn so mögen es Avatar am liebsten.
Die Band hat zuvor bereits ihre Singles „Captain Goat“ und „In the Airwaves“ veröffentlicht.

Die absehbare Zukunft (wenn nicht sogar Ewigkeit) werden Avatar auf Tour verbringen – mit bevorstehenden Konzerten als Support von Metallica sowie dem größten Konzert der Band ALLER ZEITEN in Mexiko City.
