SEXTILE, das Duo aus Los Angeles, das für seinen pulsierenden, elektronischen Techno-Post-Punk bekannt ist, kündigt ihr neues Album „yes, please“ für den 2. Mai via Sacred Bones an.
Zusätzlich teilt die Band die erste Single „Freak Eyes“, die ihren dunklen Signature-Sound zu neuen Höhen treibt. Der Song beginnt mit einem großen Bass-Growl, das abrupt in einen Techno-Beat mit klirrender Drums übergeht:
„I feel the pressure / Man the pressure I feel when we’re together“, singt Sänger Brady Keehn kühl. Inspiriert von der Art und Weise, wie Druck sowohl Herausforderungen als auch Verbesserungen hervorrufen kann, beschwört „Freak Eyes“ elektrisierende Bilder von schäbigen Hinterzimmern auf dem Sunset Strip und Tanzflächen in Lagerhäusern herauf.

„„Freak Eyes“ is about the pressures of making art, living, and aspiring. The sound was inspired by house parties we went to in NY, where certain tracks felt that had the conversation stopping power. If you were in the middle of convo with a friend and heard certain songs, it didn’t matter what you were talking about, you stopped and joined the party in the collective release of emotion, singing, dancing, and drinks flying everywhere. It was like in that moment, nothing else mattered but that energy that we all collectively felt. And I felt like I hadn’t seen that at a party, or anywhere in a while, and wanted to try to bring that feeling back into the world again.„
Nachdem SEXTILE letztes Jahr zahlreiche Festivals und eigene Konzerte in Deutschland gespielt haben (u.a. das Maifeld Derby, About Pop Festival, etc.), geht es im Juni erneut auf Tour – Unbedingt vorbeikommen!
