Frontstage Magazine: If, starting tomorrow, every human being could travel back and forth to any number of parallel Earths untouched by humans, then…
Brooke: I suppose I would continue to live on this planet for the moment as I live next to a nice patch of forest in New Zealand, and it sometimes feels like a parallel universe already. Besides, a place untouched by humans sounds magical, and hopefully we could resist tampering with that.
Frontstage Magazine: If you wake up tomorrow and don’t know anything about your band in the morning…
Brooke: I suppose I would sit at the piano and write a song, perhaps have a nice cup of tea and piece of toast as I often do in the morning.
Frontstage Magazine: If one of you drops out at the next concert, but you have to play, then….
Brooke: we would carry on, I suppose! We’ve done it before, recently when Penelope got a concussion. The beauty of being in a band for so long is that we have a large collection of songs that can be played in different ways. Of course, it is always nice to play with everyone if we are able.
Frontstage Magazine: If you had to/ could ban one song from your discography once and for all, then…
Brooke: ooh, I don’t think I would do that. A ban seems a bit much doesn’t it? I like the songs I have written.
Frontstage Magazine: If you could trade places with a musician/band for a concert…
Brooke: I might have liked to join Leonard Cohen’s band for the day. Just to be a fly on the wall.
Frontstage Magazine: If you had to do any job well for the rest of your life, you would…
Brooke: plant a forest, perhaps grow a vegetable garden, write songs and host house concerts.
Frontstage Magazine: If you could play a gig at the venue of your choice, then…
Brooke: perhaps we would return to L’Olympia in Paris.
Frontstage Magazine: If you had to decide whether you could only breathe underwater or fly, you…
Brooke: would definitely fly. I used to dream I could when I was younger, and tried very hard to learn. To no avail, obviously, but I loved to run and jump in the wind, and feel it sweep me along.
Frontstage Magazine: If your absolute favorite band/artist would play with you in the opening program, then…
Brooke: I suppose I might do a show together with Beach House and perhaps…The Weather Station.
Frontstage Magazine: If you had everyone’s attention for 30 seconds, then…
Brooke: I might ask them how their day is, and sing them a small song.
